Terms of Service

1. Who These Terms Apply To

Kingfisher is operated by Stego Ventures Inc. These terms apply when you use Kingfisher, getkingfisher.com, or a city code site powered by Kingfisher.

2. What Kingfisher Is

Kingfisher provides online tools for city codes and related documents. Depending on the city, you may be able to:

• Browse and search city code documents
• Ask an AI assistant questions about the code
• Look up zoning or parcel information from public GIS data
• Help city staff edit, publish, or review code updates
• Upload files or continue conversations by email
• Manage organization access, billing, or usage

Each city site is configured for that city's documents, public data sources, and staff workflows.

3. Official Records Control

Kingfisher is a software service. It is not the city itself, and it does not replace official city records.

If anything on Kingfisher conflicts with an adopted ordinance, official city record, permit decision, written staff interpretation, or applicable law, the official source controls.

AI answers may be incomplete or wrong. Do not rely only on Kingfisher for legal, financial, permitting, construction, property, or development decisions. Contact the relevant city department, city attorney, or a qualified professional when you need an official answer.

4. Accounts and Access

Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity under your account.

If you use Kingfisher for a city, company, or other organization, you confirm that you are allowed to use the service on that organization's behalf.

We may limit, suspend, or remove access if needed to protect the service, protect other users, comply with law, or respond to misuse.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Access accounts, systems, data, or documents you are not allowed to access
• Interfere with or overload the service
• Try to bypass security, rate limits, billing controls, or access controls
• Upload malicious files or code
• Use the service to create unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or misleading content
• Present AI-generated answers as official city decisions
• Use automated scraping or bulk access without permission
• Remove notices, attribution, or links that are part of the service

6. AI Features

AI features are provided to help users understand, search, draft, and review information. They do not make official decisions.

You are responsible for checking AI output before relying on it. City staff, property owners, developers, and other users should review relevant code sections, official records, and professional advice before taking action.

7. User Content

You keep ownership of content you submit, such as questions, chat messages, emails, uploaded files, draft edits, and feedback.

You give us permission to process that content as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve Kingfisher.

Do not upload content unless you have the right to use it.

8. City Code and Public Documents

City codes, ordinances, zoning maps, public GIS data, and similar public records belong to the relevant public sources, not to Kingfisher.

Kingfisher's software, design, workflows, AI integrations, and platform features are owned by Stego Ventures Inc. or its licensors.

9. Billing

Some features may be paid or usage-based. If your organization uses paid features, you agree to the pricing and payment terms shown at the time of purchase or agreed in writing.

Payments may be handled by Stripe or another payment provider. We do not store full payment card numbers.

10. Availability

We work to keep Kingfisher available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, outages, provider issues, or events outside our control. Kingfisher is provided "as is" and "as available."

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Stego Ventures Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, permit delays, construction delays, property decisions, or reliance on AI output.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount paid to us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if no amount was paid.

12. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of the page. Continued use of Kingfisher after changes means you accept the updated terms.
