Before you start
You’ll need a Kingfisher account and a ChatGPT account that allows custom connections. Use a computer browser for these setup steps. If your city manages your ChatGPT account, your IT team may need to allow the connection.
Kingfisher’s code and property research is free through this connection. Your ChatGPT plan and its usage limits still apply.

Sign in to Kingfisher
Open Kingfisher for Roswell in a new tab. Sign in or create an account, and accept the research disclaimer if prompted.
Use this same Kingfisher account when ChatGPT asks you to sign in later.
Add Kingfisher in ChatGPT
Open ChatGPT Plugins in a new tab. Select the plus (+) button, then Add custom MCP server.

Under Connection, paste this address into the server URL field:
Connect your account
For authentication, choose OAuth. This means you sign in with your Kingfisher account. You don’t need an API key.
Review ChatGPT’s connection notice. To proceed, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin. Follow the Kingfisher sign-in prompts, review the requested permissions, and authorize the connection.
Connecting keeps your existing Kingfisher permissions. It does not give you extra editing or staff access.
Ask your first question
Install Kingfisher from your personal plugins. Start a new ChatGPT Work conversation, type @Kingfisher, and select it. Then try:
What does Roswell’s code say about building setbacks? Explain it in plain English and link to the sections you use.
Look for links to the code in the answer. Open them to check the source. You can follow up with a Roswell address to ask about zoning and available property records.
Menu names can vary by account. These steps follow OpenAI’s connection instructions. This guide covers ChatGPT; instructions for other AI services will follow after testing.
Tell us what could be better
Ask ChatGPT to help you explain a problem with an answer. When you’re happy with the report, ask it to submit your Kingfisher feedback. It may ask you to authorize feedback submission.
You’ll receive a saved receipt. You can also use the Kingfisher feedback form. Share only the question, answer excerpts, or source links you want us to review.
If submission is interrupted, check the receipt or retry the same report before starting a new one. Saving a report confirms we have it for review; it does not promise a reply or a fix.
Need a hand?
I can’t find “Add custom MCP server.”
Your ChatGPT account or workplace settings may not allow custom connections. Ask your IT team: “Can you allow a Kingfisher connection in ChatGPT using https://roswelludc.app/mcp?” You can still use Kingfisher directly.
Sign-in or the connection isn’t working.
First, sign in to Kingfisher for Roswell and accept the research disclaimer. Then try connecting again with that same account. Check that the server address ends in /mcp, and that authentication is set to OAuth.
ChatGPT says it can’t use Kingfisher.
Open Kingfisher in ChatGPT Plugins, select Refresh, and check that its tools are enabled. Start a new conversation and select @Kingfisher again. Follow any prompt to reconnect or approve an additional permission.
Can I edit code, send letters, or upload files?
Draft editing, letter generation, and Planning requests are in pilot testing. Your account’s permissions still apply. Uploads and PDF reading are being rolled out separately. Start with the research steps above; contact us if you need help with another feature.
The Kingfisher icon is missing.
You can continue with setup. To replace the icon, download the Roswell icon, edit the plugin in ChatGPT, and upload that file in its Icon field.
What information is shared?
ChatGPT sends Kingfisher the requests needed to answer your question, and Kingfisher returns source information to ChatGPT. Kingfisher does not automatically receive your whole ChatGPT conversation. Feedback includes only the report and excerpts you approve sharing.

How do I disconnect?
Disconnect Kingfisher in ChatGPT Plugins. Signing out of the Kingfisher website alone does not revoke the AI connection. Contact us if you need help revoking an outstanding authorization.
